Interactive Map of Recent Criminal Activity in Your Neighborhood

CrimeReports.com is a website that partners with local
law enforcement agencies to provide a version of Google Maps overlayed with police incident information. The website is
free to use and has a number of nifty features which make it one of the coolest community awareness
websites we've seen. Data for the map is updated every night,
so you could possibly see incidents reports that are only hours old. Users can filter the displayed icons
by age and type. For instance, you can choose to only see robbery and theft incidents that have occurred over the last 3 days.
There's also a free service whereby you can receive email alerts when a crime is reported within a certain distance of
your address. The number of participating police departments is growing nation wide.
To date in the Bay Area, you can see incidents covering the greater San Jose Metro Area,
Fremont,
Los Gatos,
Saratoga,
and all the way up the Highway 101 corridor to
Palo Alto.

Megan's Law:
Do You Live Near a Registered Sex Offender? |
Pursuant to Megan's Law, the California
Department of Justice maintains a database of registered sex offenders
that citizens may search by name, address, city, zip code, county or distance from a school. Search results can be in the form
of a map or listing. Once an individual offender is selected, you may see their picture, offenses they've committed, and quite
a bit of additional information. For about two-thirds of the listings, the current known address is listed and can be displayed
on a map. Before searching the database, please take the time read the disclaimer and terms and conditions.
Anyone who uses the database information to commit a crime or to harass an offender or his or her family is
subject to criminal prosecution and civil liability.
